Community Christmas!

Community Christmas started out 11 years ago and serviced 96 children according to Pam Danner, the program facilitator. This year the program held at St. Joan of Arc Church, will assist 110 Streetsboro families, and 350 children, who otherwise may not be able to experience the joy of Christmas. Streetsboro High School students and staff have been an integral part of making those wishes comes true for so many local families. The generous donation of time, talent, and treasure are witness to some of the great things happening at SHS.Thank you for everyone who volunteered!

SHS Beta Club Food Drive

Beta Club will be sponsoring the annual Food Drive at the high school to help the Streetsboro Community Pantry starting Monday Nov. 10th through Wed. Nov. 19th.  We will be asking students as well as staff to bring in non-perishable foods to their 1st period class.  The 1st period classes will compete to see who can bring in the most food items with the winning class given a donut party.  Now is our chance to show we actively care, by pulling together to bring in food for those in need. Thanksgiving type foods are also welcome because the Pantry is preparing Thanksgiving baskets for families and have even requested that the high school bring in extra Jello mixes and French fried onion topping for the baskets. Thank you in advance for all your help to make this year’s food drive our best yet!

HS Students Conference with LA Director/Producer

On Monday evening, April 7th, members of Streetsboro Theatre conducted a videoconference with L.A. directed/producer, Erin Brown, who directed the original music video, Alice, for the group’s Fall Extravaganza, “Welcome to Wonderland.” Those present included junior, Emily Fernandez; senior, Jake Edgerton; junior, Cassidy Emch; junior, Alex Hahn; freshman, Kenny Guzy; director, Jim Boardwine; assistant director, Anthony Madden and technology integration specialist, Maureen Haska. Brown offered advice about Streetsboro Theatre’s upcoming fundraiser, which will be a campaign on Kickstarter. Our school’s program will begin raising funds mid-April for an upcoming feature film project. The movie they plan to produce is a modern spin on Alice in Wonderland. Alice, who has recently left the UK and moved to America with her mother and younger sister, struggles to differentiate between reality and fantasy as she copes with her parents’ turbulent divorce. In this original, coming-of-age story, the characters of Wonderland help Alice reach the realization that escapism is not the answer to dealing with grief and confusion. Streetsboro Theatre is excited to team once again with Brown and other professionals to create a spectacular piece of entertainment.
