R. Michael Daulbaugh, Superintendent
As superintendent of the Streetsboro City Schools, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome back all of our students, student athletes and families. It is an exciting time to be a Streetsboro Rocket and once again this year we look to enjoy strong and talented athletic teams representing our school district and fully expect to have our best year academically for all students.
Over the next several years students and community members will get to experience first-hand as our district is transformed into state-of-the-art educational and athletic facilities. Thanks to the support of our community, we are about 75% complete building a brand new high school, with an 800 seat auditorium, two story STEM Lab, radio and television station. Also we have broken ground on a new stadium and athletic complex located behind the new high school on route 14 site. We are also about 75% complete on the additions to Campus Elementary (soon to be Streetsboro Elementary School) which will enable us to bring our Pre-k-1 students to a new and renovated building. After the new high school is complete, the current high school will receive heavy renovations and additions in order to create a brand new middle school for our students in grades 6-8. All of these projects along with the building of a new stadium and athletic complex will give our athletes access to top-quality facilities and will allow our track and field teams to compete at home for the first time in over ten years!
While athletics play an important part in the lives of our students, it is to be noted that all students are expected to put academics first. All students are encouraged to take advantage of their four years in high school in order to prepare for college, a career or the military. Without a strong commitment to academics, students will not have the opportunity to participate in athletics. To this end, we are extremely proud of the academic accomplishments of all students in Streetsboro. Students continue to show us through their performance the positive commitment made to academics. Well done!
Finally, I would like to extend a huge thanks to the community of Streetsboro for your continued support. Greatness is only achieved when we work together for a common goal. This fall, Streetsboro voters will be asked to renew (no new money) a 5.1 dual purpose levy; 3.6 mills general operating and 1.5 mills permanent improvement. This combination levy renewal represents a significant portion of operating budget and is a key to our financial health. Please know we appreciate this financial sacrifice made by our community and we will continue to be fiscally responsible at all times.
